This is why we at Hope Nutrition have devised a series of creative books to support parents and carers of young children. During this time of growth and development there can be many obstacles that parents need to overcome, whilst encouraging and sometimes persuading children to adopt a healthy lifestyle including encouraging social eating, tackling fussy eating and promotion of exercise.• As part of our unique and novel way to promote healthy eating in children aged 2-5 years, Flying day for little Tima is the first episode in series of e-books and novels which uses the context of a story and fun/cute character to promote healthy eating in young children aged 2-5 years.
Each novel is written by a number of qualified nutritionists with personal experience of being a parent as well as the related barriers faced to promote healthy eating. Our practical nutritional advice is supported by a breadth of evidence-based research (Developed with support of Liverpool Hope University and using the guidelines of The Caroline Walker Trust) which demonstrates how the health and nutrition and wellbeing of children can be optimally promoted in a simple, fun, and interactive format.• Our first little Tima story book and health promotion initiative has been piloted recently in a nursery school in Liverpool.
The pilot was extremely successful, the children really enjoyed listening to the adventures of little Tima and we have received positive feedback from nursery staff, parents/carers and the children. Nursery teachers who are qualified in early age education stated that the story book and the health promotion initiative was “In an easy format to understand and fun and engaging for both parents/carers and children”.
The children really enjoyed listening to the adventures of little Tima. Furthermore, the appearance and the graphics of the book were very appealing, which prompted the children to continually return to look at the book, in the weeks following our visit to the nursery.• Within the book, readers and listeners are invited to follow (Tima) on her exciting journeys of discovery and learning about the healthy eating and physical activity. Carers of children are also given access to simplified nutritional information (including sample menus) on how to best support youngsters on their own journeys - in order to achieve their full potential and optimal wellbeing. Our health promotion series include:• Scientific approach and clear guidelines for parents and carers• The opportunity to learn in a visually stimulating way, whilst following a character in the form of a cute bird (As originally based on the famous Liver bird- which is symbolic of Liverpool).• Tailored and simplified dietary information, which can be used by carers, in relation to supporting the nutritional needs of children of different ages.• A rewarding certificate that can be shown to children once they have listed to the story, and become willing to engage in some new healthier behaviours.Find us on:https://hope-nutrition.comhttps://www.facebook.com/hopenutrition
